2015 SCC Gibsons Grind Sponsors:

SCC- Sunshine Coast Cycling Club - Organizer

Once again the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club will be organizing what is easily the largest road cycling event on the Sunshine Coast.

The SCC Gibsons Grind wouldn't be the event that it is without the generous sponsorship of the companies below.  The SCC would like to sincerely thank:

 Spin Cycles

Spin Cycles bike shop in Gibsons will be sponsoring the ride again by helping to organize it and providing roadside mechanical support.  As if that wasn't enough, they are also providing prizes for the raffle.

As they did in 2014, Gibsons IGA is providing food for the barbeque
and  aid stations.

For the second year in a row, the aid stations will be stocked with several flavours of organic PROBAR to help keep you feeling strong until the end of the ride.

Giant Bicycles Canada is supplying an inner tube for each rider.  Hopefully you won't need it on June 20 but you could argue it's one of the more important components on a bike.  You're not getting far without air in your tires.

Knowing that the ride ends at Persephone Brewing will be all that keeps some of us going on the long ride to the finish.  In fact, that knowledge may lead to personal best performances for many riders.

Gibsons IGA - IGA was very generous with food sponsorship and allowed us to host a fantastic barbeque.

Spin Cycles Bike Store in Gibsons   (Sponsor)

Spin Cycles will be providing some awesome bike related prizes for our BBQ raffle.

I've always been treated well at Spin Cycles, whether I was going in to spend money or just to get advice.  As a recent example, I have a Powertap wheel that was originally built up at a premier bike store in Portland, Oregon.  This place has dozens of $10,000 to $15,000 bikes on display.  The wheel that came from there was noisy and always going out of true, so it was taken in to be worked on in other high-end bike shops all over BC, Washington and Oregon (I always seemed to have problems with it when I was travelling).  I finally took it in to Spin Cycles and I haven't had any problems with it since.  That's after more than 2000 km of riding, much of it being hill and sprint training.

Update, May 27, 2014:  I now have just under 3800 km on the wheel since I took it to Spin Cycles.  It's not as laser true as it was when they first gave it back to me, but still very true.  There is no brake rub or pulsating, none of the noisiness I used to experience or the lateral movement I used to feel when dragging my carcass up the bypass and stomping hard (at least as hard as I stomp).  I figure it will be ready for another trip to Spin Cycles at the end of this season.  Not bad for a wheel that other shops considered to be a write-off.

blurr apparel   (Sponsor)

blurr is a Squamish based apparel company.  They specialize in stylish, high quality clothing and accessories for active people.  They are generously providing prizes for our BBQ raffle.

PROBAR    (Sponsor)

All the riders will receive a PROBAR to help provide them with the nutrition they need to have a good day.  We're also working to have refreshment stands along the route where you can grab another.
